When You Want a South Hills Divorce Law Firm That Cares
Serving People in Mt. Lebanon and Throughout the Pittsburgh Area
Going through a divorce is a difficult time in anyone's life. It is also a time when you need the counsel of a compassionate lawyer who will look out for your best interests and help you make educated decisions — not decisions based on emotions. Attorney Robert Colaizzi has more than 20 years of experience helping people through these difficult times.
Taking an overly aggressive approach to divorce only benefits the lawyers and leaves the couple emotionally and financially devastated. Our approach is to help you achieve a negotiated settlement that is acceptable to both parties and provides for the needs of both spouses and any children the marriage has produced.
Pennsylvania Two-Year Waiting Period for Contested Divorce
Pennsylvania has a two-year waiting period for any divorce that is contested. The waiting period is designed to protect the financial wellbeing of the divorcing couple and any children they might have. To ensure that both spouses have adequate financial support, Pennsylvania also offers temporary alimony (called alimony pendente lite or APL) during the two-year waiting period.
